BIO’s YouTube Page Features Georgia Videos on the 2009 BIO Convention

Visit BIO’s YouTube page to see videos from Georgia life sciences executives highlighting the enormous business and professional development opportunities presented by attending the 2009 BIO International Convention in Atlanta and the Georgia World Congress Center, May 18-21.

Here’s one of the videos from Solvay Pharmaceuticals President and CEO Stephen Hill.

The videos also feature Sciele Pharma President and COO Edward Schutter, Georgia Department of Economic Development Commissioner Kenneth Stewart, Kilpatrick Stockton Partner Phillip Street, and University of Georgia Professor Cliff Baile. They are also available on Georgia Bio’s Blog. When you visit the Blog post your comments on why you’re planning to attend the convention.

The 2009 BIO International Convention provides our life sciences industry an opportunity to showcase itself to the global biotech community and tell the world why Georgia is a great place to locate life sciences companies. However, the only way to showcase our state and the biotech industry is to attend the convention and talk with the professionals, most of whom are senior business executives and scientists, from around the world.

Global Biotechnology Industry Lands in Atlanta in 3 Months

Register now for the 2009 Biotechnology Industry Organization International Convention, May 18-21, and save $600 on the full-convention registration rate. Early bird registration ends April 9.

The BIO International Convention is the largest gathering of biotechnology senior executives, scientists and public policy experts in the world. More than 20,000 professionals from thousands of companies, universities and other organizations will attend. A walk through the Georgia World Congress exhibit hall, with hundreds of thousands of square feet of research and technology displays, lets you experience firsthand current advances in healthcare, agriculture and biofuels and explore what the future holds.

The theme of the 2009 BIO Convention is Heal, Fuel, Feed The World. If you’re a life science business executive, university scientist, or government official, and have never attended the convention, it may be easy to overlook the opportunity. But consider that for the first time -- in your own backyard -- you will be able to talk the business and science of healing, fueling and feeding the world with peers from China, India, South Africa, Brazil, Germany, France, and the UK -- to name a few of the 70 nations expected to send representatives.

This is the first time the convention will be in Georgia and the Southeast and it won’t be back for at least four or five years. It’s worth the investment of a full convention registration. In addition to the exhibit hall, there are program sessions featuring thousands of expert speakers discussing all the major issues affecting the business and science of the life sciences industry.

This year, among the major topics of discussion will be the impact of the economic crisis on changes in the biotech business model as well as changes in healthcare policy expected from President Barack Obama’s administration.

Nationally and internationally renowned speakers also will be featured in super sessions and at the plenary luncheons. The BIO Business Forum (http://convention.bio.org/business_forum/) gives you a seat at the negotiating table with business development decision makers from the world’s top pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies. Participation in the Forum enables you to set up one-on-one meetings in advance of the convention.

Networking receptions occur throughout the four-days of the convention. If there’s one consistent trait among life sciences professionals, it’s their dedication to advancing their business and their science. Deals are struck as easily in networking receptions as they are in the one-on-one Business Forum meetings.

In today’s dynamic business climate, you can’t afford to miss this convention. The economic crisis has created a new era of opportunities for creative and effective partnering. Only the 2009 BIO International Convention will deliver the partnering tools, licensing tips and other industry resources you need to meet current economic challenges and to strengthen your biotech business for the future.
